Hemodialysis Technician
This is a California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Approved Hemodialysis Training Program. The course is intended for the students who want to pursue a career in the Hemodialysis field and who want to meet the requirements for the CDPH Licensing and Program Board examination to pursue the Clinical Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) status or the Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) status. These professionals will provide a direct monitored care to patients suffering end stage kidney disease. The Hemodialysis Technician program will educate the student in all aspects of the Hemodialysis treatment being capable to provide qualified and compassionate care to patients in need complying with Healthcare standards required by governmental and private organizations. Students will learn the appropriate Anatomy and Physiology, principles and conditions associated with the kidneys. This course will include Medical Terminology and Physiopathology of kidney disease, instruction focusing upon the recognition of pathological conditions of the kidneys and complications during the Hemodialysis treatment.
Students will focus on kidney’s conditions and treatment options/modalities and will employ analytical and critical thinking skills in identication of pathology and associated complications.
Program Admissions Requirements
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Completion of High School Education, GED or equivalent
• Able to pass a background & drug screening test
Preferred but not required
• Prior education & work experience in Health Care
• Completion of high school or college level courses in Health Care
Program Completion Time
25 weeks / 300 hours
Program Lecture (Didactic Theory) 100 clock hours
Program Laboratory / Clinical Practicum 200 clock hours
